On February 10, we received the new production pieces of the leather straps.
Development began in late November 2024 with the SIS leather workshop, and the final models have been approved. The production run of 1,000 pieces will start on February 20, with delivery confirmed for late April 2025, in line with the projected schedule. In this article, we present the selected leather for the Orion series and the different stages of strap manufacturing.

HARRISON LEATHER
CLASSIC
For the classic range, we have chosen timeless colors that perfectly complement each model. We offer a deep black, a navy blue, and a tawny brown. The stitching is designed to be pure tone-on-tone for the black and blue models, and slightly lightened for the brown model.
The range is crafted from full-grain leather, specifically named HARRISON, with no applied finish. It offers a natural feel and a consistent aging process. Its vegetable tanning ensures lasting suppleness, which enhances over time.
Without artificial treatment, it remains sensitive to friction, humidity, and UV exposure, but develops a patina that adds character. Its raw appearance highlights the natural variations of the leather, with a uniform surface and a fine grain.
Finally, the selected leather is veau-de-lait, made from the hides of young calves. More delicate and supple than adult cowhide, with finer collagen fibers, this leather gives the straps an exceptionally soft texture.

TOSCANO LEATHER
COLORED RANGE
For the ORION series, we are introducing a new range of straps with a more modern and vibrant design. It comes in three leather colors: deep green, cocoa gray, and midnight blue. To enhance the uniqueness of each piece, we have chosen contrasting stitching that complements the ORION series colors.
This range is crafted from calfskin leather, specifically named TOSCANO, with no added finish. This Italian-sourced leather is tanned using plant extracts to ensure both durability and flexibility. Its smooth, matte texture gives it a natural look that evolves over time. As a natural leather, it remains sensitive to friction, water, and color transfer, requiring appropriate use and care. Finally, its lack of coating allows it to develop a unique patina over time, giving each strap its own distinct character.

The origin of our leathers is 100% sourced from small-scale Franco-Italian cattle farms, with supply managed by the SIS leather workshop.
AZAVEL SYNTHETIC
LINING
First, it is lighter, enhancing wrist comfort, especially over long periods. It is also highly resistant to water and humidity, which helps reduce wear and prevent deformations caused by climatic conditions or regular use. In this regard, unlike leather, it does not absorb sweat and does not mark.

MANUFACTURING A STRAP
IN 8 STEPS
Leather Cutting: The leather is cut to the strap’s dimensions, typically between 20 and 25 cm. To ensure optimal precision, we use laser cutting.
Marking and Perforation of Stitching Points: Stitching points are marked with a specialized tool, then perforated to ensure perfect alignment during assembly.
Layer Assembly: The different layers—leather, reinforcement, and Azavel—are glued and compressed to ensure strength and durability. Internal reinforcements are added to enhance structural integrity.
Edge Stitching: The edges are assembled and stitched using waxed thread to reinforce the strap's durability.
Edge Bonding: A water-resistant adhesive is applied to secure the buckle area and prevent fraying. This step is performed by hand with high precision.
Finishing: The edges are sanded and polished for a clean finish. A wax or cream may be applied to protect the leather and enhance its aging process.
Keeper Loop Installation: The leather loops are attached to hold the strap's free end in place.
Buckle Installation: The buckle is secured using a spring bar.

Founded in 1983 under the name Supercuir, the SIS leather workshop initially specialized in watch strap manufacturing, following an artisanal model involving home-based seamstresses. In 1998, the company shifted towards high-end leather goods and Haute Horlogerie. In 2011, it established the École de Maroquinerie d’Avoudrey to train its own artisans and onboard up to 100 new collaborators per year. Today, SIS employs over 1,000 people in France, combining traditional craftsmanship with innovation. Since 2023, it has been responsible for the development and production of Mu:n leather straps.
In this short interview, Mickaël, Product Development Manager at SIS, shares his insights on the leather industry and a behind-the-scenes look at one of the leading names in French leather craftsmanship.

At the same time, we have initiated the development of a new tang buckle in stainless steel. The goal is to slightly increase its thickness to enhance both its durability and visual balance.

This new generation buckle has been designed in continuity with the Orion case, featuring an alternation of polished and brushed finishes. The polished chamfers echo the case lugs, while the brushed surfaces help reduce scratches and enhance durability. The prototype has been approved, showcasing a refined logo composed of two discreet triangles.

NB:
As demand is not currently strong enough and priority is given to the smooth execution of the ORION production, the manufacturing of XXL straps and a butterfly deployant clasp has been set aside for now. However, technical drawings have been initiated, and prototypes will be reviewed in the second half of 2025. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
